How To Make Your Own Natural Deodorant, with only 5 ingredients

As part of my healthy and sustainable lifestyle, I have made my own natural deodorant and I am very pleased with the outcome! It keeps you dry and fresh, plus it is a healthy alternative to a regular deodorant.

Did you know that regular deodorants contain hazardous substances such as aluminum and parabens? And that these have been linked to the development of breast and prostate cancer and Alzheimer's disease?

This is why I decided to make my own natural deodorant, so I know exactly what ingredients are in it. It contains only 5 ingredients, namely coconut oil, baking soda, corn starch and essential oil of tea tree and lavender.

The tea tree oil is great to add to the deodorant as it has an antifungal and antibacterial effect. And I added the lavender oil because it gives a nice subtle scent so the tea tree oil odor is not so overwhelming.

I hope I have convinced you to try to make your own natural deodorant. Below you can find the description of the recipe. Please let me know how it works for you.

How To Make Your Own Natural Deodorant, with only 5 ingredients

INGREDIENTS & SUPPLIES:

2 tablespoons of coconut oil

2 tablespoons of baking soda

2 tablespoons of corn starch

6 drops of tea tree essential oil

2 drops of lavender essential oil

1 small glass jar (preferably used to reduce waste)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat up the coconut oil until it is liquid and place it into a bowl.

  2. Stir in the baking soda and corn starch and mix well.

  3. Then add the drops of tea tree and lavender essential oil and mix together.

  4. Then pour the mixture into a glass jar and put it in the fridge for a few hours. You can use it once it is hard.

HOW TO USE IT:

Take a little deodorant from the jar, with a small spatula, and spread it under your armpits. Let it soak in and dry for a moment and you are ready for a fresh day!

NOTES:

  • First, test the deodorant on a small part of your armpit to make sure there is no allergic reaction. No irritation? Then you can just start using the deodorant!!

  • Please note that this deodorant feels slightly different than you might be used to, as it is a natural product.

  • Can be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature for 3 months.
