Focaccia
Updated: Aug 13, 2020

A focaccia is an Italian bread and you can easily make it yourself with this basic recipe. Delicious as an appetizer or as a side dish with a pasta or salad.
Focaccia
Servings: 1 loaf Preparation time: 15-20 minutes + 60 minutes to rise + 15-20 minutes in the oven
INGREDIENTS:
500 grams of flour 10 grams of yeast 10 grams of salt 15 grams of sugar 300 ml of warm water 2 cloves of garlic, pressed 1-2 stems of rosemary, finely chopped (or 1-2 tablespoons of dried rosemary) 50 ml of olive oil sea salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a large bowl and mix together.
Pour in the water, mix with your hands and start kneading. Knead the dough for 10 minutes.
Form a ball and place it in the bowl. Cover and let it rise at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven with a baking tray in it to 220 ° C.
Put the garlic and rosemary together with the olive oil in a small bowl and let it absorb. You can also do this a little earlier in the day so that the taste becomes more intense.
After 30 minutes, take the dough ball and knead it for another minute. Then roll out into a rectangle or circle, about 2 cm thick. Place this on baking paper and push all dimples into the dough with the convex side of your thumb.
Then divide the olive oil mixture and a little sea salt over it. Cover the focaccia with a tea towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Then place the focaccia on the preheated baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown. Let it cool slightly and taste your first piece if it is still lukewarm. Enjoy!
