Apple Turnovers
Updated: Aug 13, 2020

This is the classic recipe for apple turnovers filled with apple, raisins and walnuts, but without sugar!
APPLE TURNOVERS
Servings: 8-10 apple turnovers Preparation time: 10 minutes + 25 minutes in the oven
INGREDIENTS:
10 small sheets of puff pastry (or 2 large sheets) 2-3 (sweet) apples, in small pieces 40 grams of raisins 40 grams of walnuts, finely chopped 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 egg (or flax egg) Optional: sugar (for finish)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
Add the apples in a bowl and sprinkle them with lemon juice to prevent discoloration. Then add the cinnamon, raisins and walnuts and mix well.
Place the puff pastry slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Each slice will become 1 apple turnover.
Spread a little of the mixture over half of the slices. Do not use too much as the flaps will not close properly. Wet the edges a bit and press with a fork.
Beat the egg and spread a little over the flaps. Optional: Top with some sugar.
Put the apple turnovers in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes.
NOTES:
Can be stored in an air-tight container for 2-3 days.
